No PS3 or 360 or anything?
My computer sucks, so I don't think I'll be able to run this. Can I run it straight out of the browser, or do I have to download/install an app?
Also, do you have to pay for it? It says "free," but I don't know if that means you can just have the game for free, or if there just aren't any monthly fees or anything.

and people said we wouldn't need a forum for this ;)
This page (http://dbdb.digitaldevildb.com/wiki/index.php?title=IMAGINE%E2%84%A2_Requirements) answers both of your questions.

There is a company called Aeria games who is doing the english translation for SMT: Imagine if you are a fan of the game, and speak both English and Japanese, could you help them out by doing some translations?
http://forums.aeriagames.com/viewtopic.php?t=176274 is the site to contact them, you will need to translate a simple message to prove you know Japanese thanks very much for your help

It probably won't take much to run it on a current system.
BTW, does anybody know why Atlus decided to create a section just for this game. Last I heard an admin said that they didn't want to because its Aeria's property.

...And then Inzaghi over-rode that Admin and created it anyway. Atlus is a monarchy, and Inzy is the king. :p
EDIT: Also, it scares me about their localization abilities that they need to cry out to the public for translation help. Were they unaware they'd need to translate the game?

It's nothing new. Have you ever seen an MMO translation? They're terrible. Megaten Online's will be terrible as well, and that's why I'll be playing it. ;)

This doesn't bode well, considering how difficult and tricky it must be to translate SMT stuff, especially the main series. Not a huge amount of text but every phrase and word is very important and a very little screw up can completely change the meaning. This is true in Nocturne and the older titles as well, on which IMAGINE is based on.

I tend to think that since it re-uses a lot of graphics from Nocturne, et al., which were made for a 1999-era system (but look really good nonetheless) that even old computers should be able to run it. It does look like it plays with a lot of Bloom type lighting effects though which may be a problem.

Aeria seems to be hit or miss for me. I think the translation in DOMO is great. Meanwhile, the translation in Shaiya was poor.

Oh boy, I remember the Ragnarok Online beta. It actually made me very self-conscious talking to people when I was first learning Japanese.

I'm tempted to play this, when it comes out, but I'll have to see if my computer can hold it's own.
I've been looking for an mmorpg to play with lesser graphics but a great storyline.
Hopefully it will deliver a good deal of fun!

I managed to keep people the hell out of my room for the 6.5 hours it took to download the client installer, then the 30 minutes it took to install... It took 5+ tries to get it completely downloaded, as it gave an error when I tried to pause then resume, making me start it all over... now I updated, and when I try to start it I get this error message, it quits the client. I have no clue how or what to fix. My laptop seems to fit the requirements well enough:
Pentium 4, 3Ghz, 1gb RAM, "ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 Series", and I set all the graphics settings to optimal performance. What did I miss!?

I think it is because of the "Shin Megami Tensei" that goes along with the title.

I think are you better off asking on the official forums for technical support.

My friends are playing this and I'm left behind because, like a tool, I chose a Mac rather than a PC for gaming.
What was I thinking?

where can i get this game?
Go to the Aeria Games website.
Sign up for Aeria.
Find MegaTen on the site's MMO list and go to it's site. (megaten.aeriagames.com)
Download from there.
Install.
Play.
EDIT: No. You can't get it any smaller.
When you download it, you can delete SOME unessential files. Mostly the music and other audio, if you're not going to listen to it.

Also, do you have to pay for it? It says "free," but I don't know if that means you can just have the game for free, or if there just aren't any monthly fees or anything.
Do you have a PS3? If so do you have a copy of windows? If so then you can partition your PS 3 hard drive and install a second OS onto it and basically use it as your computer! :)

If I'm not mistaken, the PS3 doesn't have enough RAM to dedicate to running both an OS and SMT:IO. I know you can actually play it on Linux now with additional software, but my understanding is that you shouldn't even bother trying to get Windows to run on a PS3 right now.
I could probably double check the system info while running my Linux installation, but I'm kinda about-to-pass-out-at-my-keyboard sleepy right now, so I should probably hold off on that until later.
