Soccer RPG hybrid?!
Level 5?!
I don't know whether to laugh or take this seriously.

I've played the demo. It's fairly interesting, but I can't see how they expect 1000 characters to fit on the cart unless there are a whole lot of generic palette-swap guys among your superstars.

Wow. Just wow. Sounds interesting. Different. I'm at a loss for words.

Why is this such a weird idea? There have been other titles like this with soccer and other sports. Sim and rpg elements in sports games is nothing new.

They could always use Procedural Generation. I'm pretty one of the brain training knockoffs uses that for one of their tests, which has you remember faces.

Or they could just mix and match various parts, like how you build a lot of internet avatars.

I've played it as well (detailed impressions here (http://www.cubed3.com/preview/253/)). The final game's just been confirmed as coming out in Japan in Spring 2008 and definitely looks like being another fine game from Level-5. Whilst the demo didn't really reveal too much on the pure RPG side, the football element, complete with its on the fly tactical changes and clever statistical battles certainly grabbed my interest.

Considering how well the Professor Layton games are doing in Japan, though, and how Nintendo is being 'buddy-buddy' with Level-5 right now, bringing over Curious Village, I'd say NoA is likely to snap up Inazuma Eleven.

Another Inazuma Eleven title announced:

Level-5 president Akihiro Hino saved the real big news for last as he made first mention of the next Inazuma Eleven game. Titled Inazuma Eleven Break!, the new game is being designed for an undisclosed console, making it Level-5's first self-published console game.

In a recent interview with Famitsu, Hino made mention of an expansion for the company into self-published console titles before the end of the year. He hinted that Wii was a strong contender to get the first games from the firm.

Since Atlus is starting to bring over games from other companies, I am hoping that they would be willing to bring this game over to the states. The game concept is intriguing and Atlus' business model lends itself to this niche (at least in the states) game.

Well, what is taking them so long. I'm a fan of Level 5, and I can't believe there isn't any mention (at least of what I found) of it coming over here.

I'm not particularly fond of that 3D at the bottom, but everything else looks fun. Unique idea, too.

I'm curious to know why this game didn't show up in the west yet. I really hope that Nintendo isn't sitting on it. :/

Soccer is extremely popular in Europe. I can't say the same thing about the U.S.A. though. Let's face it: FIFA 10 was first released in Europe.
Anyway, the NDS is region free so you guys can just import it.

Update: Unfortunately it is just the show that Arait Multimedia has picked up.

Arait Multimedia to Rep Dentsu Series
By Mansha Daswani
Published: November 5, 2009

MADRID: Spanish distributor Arait Multimedia has inked a deal with Japanese outfit Dentsu to represent the rights to the soccer-based anime series Inazuma Eleven across Europe and in parts of Africa.
The show encompasses 104 episodes and is based on a Nintendo DS video game. Arait will represent the TV and merchandising rights to the show in Europe and in 12 African markets. The brand has already spawned some 400 consumer products in Japan. According to Arait's director, Joaquín García Garrido, channels in Italy, France and Spain have expressed an interest in the property.
Arait represents a host of anime series, in addition to distributing movies, educational fare, documentaries, soaps and more.

It's coming. Akihiro Hino told me in an interview I did with him about the latest Layton game. Level 5 is also planning on bringing over all the Atamania games (Sloane & MacHale, plus the Akira Tago puzzle collections on DS).

Hino-san wouldn't divulge the publisher, though, simply saying it will be announced when the time is right, and that the target release date is around the FIFA 2010 World Cup period :)

Considering the way it has handled the Western rights for Layton via Nintendo, I have faith :)

Why don't we have one of these titles yet? Level 5 smells big money (in Euroland at least) and wants to publish the series itself.

You could buy the UK version. It will be the same game except the game box and thats a matter of taste. Actually I prefer the european cases. People in England speak english too:p (dont laugh some ask some americans are confused about that:o)

I live in Europe and normally buy the first release, sometimes they get later released by Rising Star Games in Europe but I have already bought them. The DS has no region lock and so I dont understand why amercians import the european releases.

I wonder if, in an attempt to get more localizations for the DS, Nintendo would try and encourage third parties to localize more of them as well? Like, with money or something.

Olethros
11-24-2010, 12:48 PM
I think it would be highly unlikely. Nintendo is good at a lot of things but dealing with third parties has never been one of them. They're not the type to throw around money or take short term losses in the name of the big picture. They rely on their rabid fanbase and assume the Nintendo name brand will often suffice.

This is very true. Quite honestly, I'd expect Sony to try my idea before Nintendo ever did. However, I would love to know, at the very least, if Nintendo's supposed commitment to these localizations would have any effect on these third parties? As in, "Well hey since Nintendo is still going to be pumping these localizations behind their system, we should too!"

That situation I find a lot more possible, because it means that Nintendo is still looking to market the DS, but now seem to want to give a lot more attention to people, like us, that love niche, localized stuff. I would think that other companies like Atlus and XSeed would want to piggyback off of this at some point. Perhaps even Aksys at some point.

(I think NISA's way too off in their own world for this to encourage them at all)
