We already know that P4 will be out in the US by year's end. However, that is not the only SMT game that has been announced or hinted at.
1) Devil Summoner: Raidou 2 for PS2. Obviously coming out here, but when? I'd peg it for April or so NA release, maybe even later due to how closely it presses up against P4's gargantuan localization project. If I recall correctly, the original was one of the reasons why P3 took so long to localize.
2) Nocturne Maniacs Chronicle Edition for PS2. A special edition of Nocturne that features Raidou as an optional boss, and presumably addition demons from the more recent SMT games. If it really is just Raidou with a few extra demons, it will probably stay in Japan, but if it isn't... please? EDIT 12-3-08: It's just Nocturne with Dante replaced by Raidou. Even his moves are functionally the same. Leave it in Japan, for all I care.
3) SMT on DS using the Etrian Odyssey engine. Speculated based off a supposedly off-hand remark during an interview, something like "It would be good for a MegaTen game, wouldn't it?" I'm guessing it will be announced in JP magazines after the new year and see release sometime next summer, followed by a US release by the end of next year. EDIT 12-3-08: Devil Survivor is a strategy RPG that has separate battles like the Ogre Battle series, and those sub-battles look like they US the EOs' battle engine and interface. Not the dungeon crawler we were hoping for, but it might still be interesting.
4) Next-gen SMT4. I don't know the story behind it, but it's coming. It was supposedly listed a few years ago on a media/business page, and Atlus JP's wanted page lists PS360 programmers. They have to be working on something, right?

^Yeah that has been a fairly small rumor that has been floating around for quite a while now. I really don't know if I believe anything will come out of it at this point, but I hope I am wrong. I would almost rather see something similar to an EO engine come out on PSP and then they proceed onto a SMT based off that engine.
Before anyone cries foul, I love the DS but I am concerned that we wouldn't be able to see anything as expansive as previous first person SMT and SMT related titles under the EO engine on DS. EO titles to date have concentrated on one large dungeon and a fairly limited bestiary (while cool) compared to older SMT titles. I honestly don't know much about the storage limitations of DS cartridges, but I have to wonder about a SMT related title with multiple dungeons, an overworld, and a sizable bestiary -- possibly too taxing for the EO engine. Again, I am only speculating.

I think it's more for design reasons than hardware limitations that EO had only one dungeon. You were meant to spend a lot of time on each floor and visit them multiple times, as opposed to SMT dungeons, which you generally visit once and then move on to the next dungeon in the storyline progression. If EO, under its current setup, had a bunch of dungeons with 8-10 floors each, it would have been a much longer and (possibly) more tedious game--a DS SMT wouldn't have that problem.

I don't think the size limitations of DS games played against EO at all. There are plenty of games out there with more music, more enemy and character types, more (any) frames of animation, FMV, or voice acting. The engine itself could easily be transferred to hold an SMT game, especially when you consider how similar the designs already are; many map features are similar to the PS2 games, the general battle interface is like a slightly gimped version of Soul Hackers, and the battle system has a similar strength/weakness system overlaid onto stat-based battle algorithms instead of level-based ones.

That isn't quite what I was getting at. I was more afraid that EO's engine wouldn't translate into a multi dungeon SMT title very well because I misunderstood the storage capacity / whatnot of DS cartridges, not that the DS limited the structure of EO.

I'm not sure what I want more, 3 or 4. Probably 4.
A true SMT on next-gen would look mindblowing, considering how good R&D1(or whatever they call themselves now) make PS2 games look.
Demi-Kids would make for a fun DS game.
And if they aren't somehow working on a Devil Summoner 4 localization in unison with Persona 4's(unlikely), then I'm guessing late winter/early spring.

Number 2, please. I'd like a special edition Nocturne better but a special edition Raidou ain't half bad either.

I sure would like to see #4 happen! I'm sure that a Shin Megami Tensei game would look great on the PS3 (or whatever current generation console it's coming out for).

Ohh! #'s 1, 3, and 4 are lookin' real good! I'm not sure about #2 since it's basically the Nocturne game with some added features...which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I'm not sure how many people would buy the game again. Some would though, I imagine. I guess it depends on the price tag - if we're talkin' $50 - 60 (for #2), I would have to pass. I would much rather spend that kind of money on a brand new SMT game.

...and I'd like a number 4 with fries and a coke.
Hopefully it'll be on the Wii too, cause that's what I got. But I'd buy a PS3 if it was exclusive to that system either way.

Number 3 didn't quite come true, but Devil Survivor adapts the EO battle engine into an SRPG; you move your characters around on a grid like the genre standard, but when you come into contact with enemy parties, you enter EO style battle screens. Kind of like a grid-based Ogre Battle, I guess, except you get to control your party members.

I would like to see a remake of Shin Megami Tensei 1 on PS3 or DS
that would be really cool, does Atlus of Japan check the USA forums?

I think RPGFan has a rumor listed under their upcoming release dates of a SMT game for PSP as well, possibly a remake. I know they remade one of them already in Japan, just dont remember which one.

I think it was the first Devil Summoner, but I'm not sure.
