View Full Version : Does anyone know if we get the pre order bonus in Canada?

I'm going to pre order P4 and LA2 anyways, to secure my copies, but I'm kind of on the fence about picking up EP. I was going to wait, and perhaps hear back from other users(I don't trust reviews) as to whether or not this game is worth picking up, but if I can get the artbook as a pre order bonus, I think I'll cave in and pre order it. The problem is that I live in Canada, and we often get the short end of the stick. I'm wondering if anyone knows if I will be able to get the pre order bonus if I pre order a copy at EB Games in Canada? Thanks in advance. :D

I think it will at Amazon.ca and EB Games, or at least that's what NichM (Nich Maragos) said on NeoGAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=12839682#post12839682):
I am the bearer of good news! I've been asked to relay that since one of our partners in this is EB Games, the preorder artbooks can be had by reserving at Canadian EB Games stores. If you Canucks lack confidence in the brick-n-mortar system, they will also be available at Amazon.ca. They just don't have the details up on their listing yet is all.

And, of course, anyone who already preordered before this announcement at any of the listed retailers should automatically be receiving the artbooks; no need to cancel and re-pre-order.

I placed a pre-order for this and Persona 4 at amazon shortly after. Hopefully they update their information soon, but I don't think there's any reason to doubt that it's true whatsoever.

damn. I canceled my amazon.ca preorder to switch to amazon.com

now I guess I'll switch back to .ca (to take advantage of that 10$ coupon)

So, is the preorder bonus limited to just the stores mentioned in the email, Gamestop/Amazon, etc or will other smaller retailers be getting the preorder bonuses as well.

I wouldn't mind confirmation on this issue - my main source of imports here to the UK is based in canada (not one of the large chains mentioned in the email) and if they're not getting the bonuses it might be time to switch. The email says at the bottom "at these and other fine retailers" so I assumed everywhere would be getting them.

Yeah, I would appreciate some official word on this as well since I got a straight up "No preorder bonuses" response from EBgames store clerk because it's "American only".

If it's available through Amazon.ca as well then I'll go and cancel my in-store preorder now and opt for the guaranteed one instead.

Really would appreciate some official word on this, I really hate the responses I'm getting from the store clerks and how they don't get the bonuses until way later or at all...

Hmm..., well, I'll wait for an official response. It could mean the difference between me purchasing a game or passing on it altogether. The world doesn't revolve around the artbooks, and we'll be getting the soundtracks either way, but I have heard mixed impressions of Poison Pink(the Japanese version), and it doesn't seem as though too many people are interested in EP, so I might pass on this game, if I don't get the extra incentive. Though the offer of a 100 page artbook made me consider caving in. Come on Atlus, it can't hurt for you to make some extra cash.

If it helps anyone, I emailed amazon.ca and they told me that neither Eternal Poison or Persona 4 would come with the preorder stuff. They told me that this was because they recieve their stock from different suppliers and operate independently of amazon.com.

Guess it's going to come down to either paying for the games from the US (customs fees, difference in dollar value and inconvenience are making me cringe though) or taking my chances at my EB's here. Not going to be fun either way:frown:

That's funny considering that's completely contradictory to what Inzaghi posted in the Atlus preorder onslaught topic in general discussion..

http://www.atlus.com/forum/showthread.php?p=66471#post66471

It means that my chances of getting the extras are lowering and lowering and lowering... Unless, Amazon.Ca also has the same deal, or EBgames, up north, will finally get the same deal as the US, and not just get the leftovers that the US has in pre-order items...

Amazon.ca and the EB Games physical stores in Canada will both have this deal. It might not be reflected on their pages yet, but they'll have it.

This is getting really confusing now...

this whole thing sucks. I'm starting to believe I'll never get these bonus items anyway.

Here's a copy/paste of the email. I would love to find out that they're completely wrong though

"Greetings from Amazon.ca, I am sorry but it appears that Amazon.ca will not be carrying the pre-order bonuses. I am aware that Amazon.com is offering this promotion but our international web sites operate independently of each other. The items offered on each site are obtained from different suppliers, publishers, and distributors, relative to the countryfrom which the item originates. I hope this information helps. Thank you for shopping at Amazon.ca. "

Well from my experiences EB Canada is kind of retarded, and Amazon.ca probably doesnt know they are getting it yet.

You know, Amazon used to be really good for us Canadians. Now, it's getting slowly terrible. Before, we could buy from Amazon.com (USA site) without problems. This site has about everything you could imagine, including very rare and niche stuff. We can't use it anymore for video games because of a bogus claim that the waranty isn't applicable to Canadians. Honestly, I never had any problems with a sealed console or handheld game, so I don't give a damn about this warranty and they is no button "I don't give a damn, I want to buy anyways".

There are 2 major problems with Amazon.ca. As I have suggested above, they have less rare or niche items. They also don't have some stuff which is kinda weird. For example, I was looking for the new Castlevania for the DS 2 days ago, nope not on Amazon.ca and it will be released in less than a week and this is a major release! I have yet to experience the "sorry, no pre-order bonus for you Canadian consumer, haha!", I have pre-ordered Eternal Poison with them, we will see if I will get the artbook or not...

That being said, I'm slowly moving my business elsewhere until these obvious problems are fixed... They used to be my select retailer for new stuff, with price sightly below MSRP on many items and free shipping (with still decent shipping speed) if you buy for 40$ or more, other retailers usually can't match that.

Does Atlus USA have official business contact with Amazon.ca? I now see that most, if now all Atlus USA releases now appear on Amazon.ca which is a good start but the garanteed pre-order bonus would be most welcome.

email I recieved from Amazon.ca

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.ca.

The only information we can give you about particular titles is what we display on the product information page: the title, author, artist,or actor/director, publisher, release date, and price. Sometimes we have a short synopsis, review, and cover image.

We know that, often, the amount of information we have may make it difficult to make a purchasing decision unless you already know something about the item. Our editorial staff is working to improve the information we provide about each item.

If you decide to order the item from our site and find that, upon delivery, the item's packaging indicates that it is not the item you expected or is contrary to the information listed on our site, you may return it for a full refund; just be sure that the item is not opened.

You'll find our returns policy, instructions, and a printable return mailing label online at:

Thanks again for shopping at Amazon.ca.

Comments:Dear Amazon Customer Service Staff,

I am interested in purchasing two pre-order items, Eternal Poison and Persona 4 for the Playstation 2 console. If pre-ordered using Amazon.ca will these items be shipped with their respected bonus offers? There is no information given on the item listing.

Amazon.com states that items will be shipped with bonus offers but they do not ship to Canadian postal address'

email received from Atlus customer service

Hi ********,

I completely forgot about the art books that are being included with those
pre-orders... Sorry about that. Hmm, I'm not sure about Amazon.ca. I know
that Canadian EBGames outlets (in-store only) are offering the pre-orders
for certain, but that's probably the best information that I can provide you
with.

Dear Rob,

Thank you for your prompt response, the soundtracks sound great, but does
the pre-order bonus include the art book offer if shipped through Amazon.ca?

There is no information listed by Amazon.ca and their response is vague at
best.

Thank you, ********

Hi ********,

Both of the pre-order soundtracks that come with those games will come
packaged inside the DVD case that holds the game itself, so there is minimal
to no likelihood of missing out on the pre-order bonuses that come with
Eternal Poison and Persona 4.

At this point I've given up on getting the bonus art book. I would love it, but it won't make my game experience better. I'm a total cheap ass, so I'd rather pay 26$ at amazon.ca using the discount coupon than forking over 20$ more to some asshat eb games clerk and potentially getting the book.

Videogamesplus.ca will have the pre-order bonus: http://www.videogamesplus.ca/product_info.php?products_id=14507

Same for P4 and Luminous Arc 2.

Talk about an unpleasant surprise. It's a bit annoying when your fears are put to rest about wether or not amazon.ca comes with the pre-orders and then getting the item by itself with no extras.

Though, like another said, it wouldn't detract me from my gaming experience, it is nevertheless unpleasant to know that I've been barred from obtaining an interesting item which I should've received.

If we're in luck, Atlus might decide to ship us the extras we're missing. I know they've done it once before. As for the pre-order items not being available in Amazon.ca, you'd imagine we'd have gotten some news of it amongst the various atlus e-mails we've had that kept on publicizing the comming of Eternal Poison, Luminous Arc 2 and Persona 4 with pre-orders available in Gamestop, EBgames and Amazon.com and .ca.

I certainly hope they do more then just a simple public apology. If they indeed pride themselves upon tending to their various fans and followers, they'd best keep up to their claims, else their reputation be tarnished.

Must be a bit rough though being on that end. You've got the carrot and the stick, but the horse can opt to kick you in the nuts if you don't give that carrot like you said you would've.
