Coming 2/24/09...

Monolith finally reaquired the rights to the FEAR name, and there will be another game with the name F.E.A.R. worth playing since the original. If you played that game then you already know why you should be excited. If you haven't then check it out (if you have a decent PC), and check out these videos (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/5453.html)!

At least they got the F.E.A.R. name back. Now I wonder if Extraction Point and Perseus Mandate will still be retconned out of existence.

I liked the first F.E.A.R game even though I dont normally like FPS games but it had an interesting story. Im actually looking forward to the next game. My only concern is because its taking so long it might release to late in terms of graphics and fps game technology.

Sweet... it's back to FEAR. But what caused them to lose the name?

Sierra owned the name, Monolith was the one who actually made the game, they didn't agree or something after the first FEAR.

Sierra published for them so they had the naming rights I guess and when monolith split from Sierra to do there own thing they lost the naming rights. Sierra then decided to milk fears success with the expansion and the stand alone game Perseus Mandate. But now Monolith purchased the name back from Sierra.

Awesome, now it's back where it belongs.

They lost F.E.A.R. because they were bought by Warner Bros (they actually publish games... who knew?), but with Activision dismantling Sierra piece by piece they managed to get it back.

Fantastic. Getting the F.E.A.R. name back is even better.

This isn't just 'a' FPS, this is 'the' FPS in my opinion. Pure immersiveness.

Day one.

And yes, the expansions are being retconned. They weren't made by the original developers.

I spoke with some of their staff at PAX.

Extraction Point didn't happen.

Project Origin continues the story from F.E.A.R.'s ending.

Sweet Beans! I hated the way Extraction Point ended, not to mention what happened to that female F.E.A.R. member who's name eludes me at the moment.

I thought Extraction Point was made by the original people >_>

But yeah, I don't like the fact that they killed the hawt Asian FEAR agent >_>

Too bad the 2/24/09 release date wont work for me since I have already pre-ordered Killzone 2, but if you guy's do buy it tell me how it turn's out (I'll think about it determining the outcome)

The demo was insane. And that moment with Alma taking the rifle... yikes.

This demo is awesome, thanks for the link. I had sort of given up on FEAR but it seems like it'll be neat. I just hope there is more variety than in the first one.

For some reason it wasn't that scary compared to the first FEAR game. The first couple of ghost appearances startled me a little but then the screen started getting really blurry and so much stuff was happening I didn't know what the hell was going on.

I think they kind of overdid the supernatural stuff, though the Alma grabbing your rifle did make me kind of jump back and say OH ####.

Overall, Alma's monster form doesn't scare me was much as her evil little girl form >_>

The mecha part was really fun, probably going to get this for the PC once it's out.

I just played the demo to. It wasnt bad. Im thinking the demo is going to be different from the actually start of the main story. It seemed to me the demo was set up more as a way to show off the different weapons / equiptment that will be aval. I mean they had almost all if not all the weapons / gernades etc aval in the demo. I dont really think the main game will have all the equiptment aval from the start. Also the scary stuff might have been set up for the demo as well so you get an idea of what to expect maybe thats why it felt like there was to much of it.
