Sure, I think everyone would love it if it happened. I think everyone here would love it if they re-released the stuff they already released here in a pack deal. Isnt going to happen though. I'd like it if they released some of the stuff on the Wii for the VC but even I can understand why they dont. It's expensive. Takes like 25K just to get the ESRB to rate it, another 5K to Nintendo for them to carry it on the VC servers, and I think like 20% of each D/L sale to the big N. It's just not cost effective to release old games when your a smaller publisher. Atlus deals more in quality over quantity but they still have to make ends meet at the end of the day. Maybe if they became a branch of the government they could write hot checks all day long and not worry about profit but as long as they remain a company with the intent of being profitable, dont expect it any time soon.

Here is the kicker though. If something like this did come out in Japan, do you really think Atlus USA would touch it? If a collection did come out there, it would most likely utilize the same graphics engine used in the PSX/GBA rereleases -- I really can't see Atlus JP redoing all of those games. It would be cool, but it would also be an enormous undertaking. Do you really believe Atlus USA would be willing to take the risk of releasing something like that here? I wish they would, but I also realize that my tastes don't fall in line with the average rpg enthusiast.

Remaking them and porting SFC versions to PSP, PS2 or Wii are two different things

Capcom with Megaman and MegamanX collection, Street Fighter Collection, Street Fighter Alpha Collection

The Sega CD version of SMT 1 blows, (it was also common as dirt) plus the Sega CD has region protection. As Sayck stated, you are better off looking for the SFC versions. SMT 2 PSX had a buggy print -- someone who doesn't know to look for that could get screwed.

^It wasn't even handled by Atlus, the music is off, it uses weird ass digitized graphics in some areas (NPCs). I own it.
So, you actualy got this game? I noticed Atlus wasnt mentioned on the front or back but figured I'd get it anyways. Was it realy that bad? I'll still play it once I get the means to (emulator or CDX) but still, never would have guessed it to be a turd. Your not the first to tell me it was a stinker either.

In the off chance they ever did, I would buy it, but I think it's really unlikely. From trolling the forums, it seems like one of the major roadblocks is that the code for the game is no longer in existence (i.e, they trashed it). So the collections/ports that you're looking for would have to be complete remakes of the older games which would take too much time and money. At that point, I'd rather they devote their resources to making newer and better games.

If you want a good example of why they can't bring it here, look at what happened to Working Designs. Arc the Lad Collection is a good comparison.

Even if Atlus did the bare minimum in packaging and translation, then limited it, it would probably still cost too much to bring something like that over.

Now if Atlus Japan did something like porting the Megaten 1/2 games together, maybe they could do that.

So, to answer your questions...yes, they were pretty bad. At least, there was a WHOOOLE lot better stuff out there. So in a pile of turd, Growlanser II and III may shine upon mediocrity.

I could see them handling distribution digitally maybe over psn or xboxlive or even steam. That way you can pick and choose the best of the best or offer saving bundles that would make most gamers :o bug out!
