This game wasn't mentioned on the first five pages of Game Suggestions. I apologize if I missed an earlier mention.
Magician's Academy is an Japanese PS2 simulation RPG which was apparently released last year. It's based on a light novel (in other words, prose) which was created by the same person who wrote the original Scrapped Princess novel. The art style is intentionally "moe moe," which will either attract or repel fans. (I, for one, admit that I'm embarrassed to like moe. But I'm much less embarrassed about my love of shoujo...)
The following description of the gameplay is from NCSX [ http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/SLPS-25775.html ] : "The movement and attack phase is similar to other S-RPG games where characters are sent scurrying across the stage to meet opponents head-on. When a hero is adjacent to an enemy, select the attack move to deal a blow or choose the magic option fire off an offensive spell. The battles run smoothly with no-nonsense execution and a sense of solidity about everything. The game system in Magician's Academy eschews the concept of characters leveling up to ever higher gradations of power. To increase the capabilities of a hero, items may be equipped to enhance his performance on the battlefield."
It might be too late for this game. I don't know how much life is left in the PS2.
The company Enterbrain has been responsible for a variety of games, ranging from Kimikiss to Derby Stallion to the RPG Maker series.
