Coming from the same company as "Izuna, Legend of the Unemployed Ninja" comes a DS strategy game that takes on ambitious changes to the SRPG system!
-----------------------------------------------
What I got from the whole site seems pretty interesting!
Looking at the front page, it looks like you have the ability to actually dress your character's sprite with armor and weapons (probably a main focus since the game is named COSPLAY Tactics.)!
And not just metal, look in the background of the front page (the girl holding some armor) and you can even see a maid outfit! Meaning more than just conventional soldier clothes!
The screens show that it's being made for the DS so "yay!" portable-ness!
The job system seems to take off from the Norm as well concentrating on things like whether your characters are attack, speed, and even designed for front or back line!
Note that the screens are on each
Under 'data', there are some pictures of weapons and they appear pretty varied. If it's true that you can dress up your character, then having varied weapon designs to equip is a plus!
Plus, it looks like it has Online capabilities! Possibly to fight over Wi-Fi and
see other people's creations!
---------------------------------------------------
Haha, this is my first time recommending a game so I hope I did it right.
Being able to create your own troops as sprites (Sprites me love) really interested me and I hope to see Atlus pick up on this!

it's like if you took everything terrible about FFX-2 and combined it with disgaea. sounds fun.

Where's Sei? Usually in with a day one before anyone else.
(sadly, I hate to admit it but if Atlus brought it over I'd probably buy it  ).

My bad, been away.
Seems like an interesting concept, and it has nice art. Hope it's not too easy.
Day One.

Cosplay Tactics sounds like the ideal game for anime con-goers. If you show up at any decent-sized con, you will see cosplayers aplenty, and you will see tons of people with DS systems.

Imagine if they add a kind of "Showroom mode"
Where you wouldn't have to be in battle to see your full sprite!
Hah! If it lives up to its name, this'd be a cosplayer's closest game-on-the-go!
:D
This sounds really interesting. I'm a sucker for SRPGs, the DS, and cute cosplay girls, so I'd be all over this.

Looks like it could be interesting, from what info I'm able to find anyway. Jobs are pretty generic, which suggests the way you dress up your character will have more of an effect on their role in battle than their job will. If done well it could be fun being able to customize your troops so much. I might be a bit too forgiving when it comes to SRPG's, though, so I'd probably pick it up anyway...

Dude it's a cellphone game.
Yeah, from the screens it looks a lot more like a cell game than a DS game.
Anyway, I would be interested if it wasn't for the cell phone. I don't have one, and I don't plan on getting one soon.

Really? I would have thought it was this game here:

Though, looking at it now, the screenshots look fairly different. But still, both are apparently cosplay SRPG's made by Ninja Studio...

Hmm....I dunno. Maybe the screens on the website are both DS screens combined, or they made a port. I dunno; I guess it is a DS game.

This game would be great to see in action if they made a trailer for it instead of everyone trying to guess if its an cellphone game or NDS title. I think the game overal would be nice really but what can you do with a sexy stats thats the real question.=P

Seems like a hard sell in the US, but sadlly, I'd buy it.
Tho, I dont think you'd want to keep the title.

RPGamer's Japandemonium recently discussed a game titled "Tactics Layer - Chronicle of Ritinagart" from Ninja Studio and D3. Here's the link: http://www.rpgamer.com/news/japan/mb021309.html Scroll down to "Good fashion sense". Since this game sounds quite similar to Cosplay Tactics, I think they *might* be the same. I could be wrong...

Personally, the game sounds interesting to me. I always liked customization of many sorts, be it tweaking stats or just clothing. ((I'm almost out of space in my SCIV CAS, as proof of this.))

Probably the author intended to mention Tactical Guild or Tactic Slayer, both by Ninja Team on Ds and both with cosplay elements (well, TS seems totally devoted to them XD).
Some more screenshots about Tactic Slayer: http://www.d3p.co.jp/tacticslayer/
The whole dress->class system has been used in the Tales Narikiri Dungeons spin offs with good results, not to mention Vandal Hearts 2 (well, it wasn't cosplay, but the equipment totally determined the appearance and the stats\skills of the characters, making it possible to change jobs on the fly) and the recent Tactical Guild, and I personally find it very interesting if implemented well.

I think the title could be a major selling point, considering the otaku\anime-con niches :P

Well, the game's come a bit of a long way since this topic was made.
But finally! It's out in Japan! :D
First off:
The official site!
http://www.d3p.co.jp/tacticslayer/
The game IS text heavy! (at least in the beginning), and I don't know japanese.
However, it's not that hard to figure out:
From what I got in the beginning
-main character is woken up (lol, violently)
-the heroine shows up
-both go to school (lot of text happens here)
-on the way they meet up with a purple haired girl, either a friend or rival, but they don't seem to be on bad terms. She's a bit like the green haired girl from When They Cry in her personality
-at school they meet up with a spiky-haired guy and a silver-haired girl, not sure what happens here (again, tons of text)
-the heroine asks the MC to come to the roof (or is it the other way around?)
-lot of text, eventually something happens and the whole place starts glowing.
In the middle of this, the purple haired girl comes in.
-They're taken to some place called the "eternal plain" (the place names are in English)
-some text and battle begins
First five minutes of the game. gameplay is pretty bsaic SRPG base. Thankfully, the basics like move, attack, item bag, etc. are represented by easy to recognize symbols so I can still play it without too much trouble. >_>
It's a pretty solid game. The Cosplay gimmick looks fun and there seems to be a lot of different clothes to dress up in along with lots of weapons ranging from steel swords to signposts! XD
I, again, hope atlus can do a miracle here!
p.s.: There's a topic on the Gamefaqs board with character info translated from the site. You'll know which one it is.
