Seeing as how the Devil summoner squeal conversation didn't go so well I thought I post a new one.
1.Is there a release date?
2.Is the original Protagonist till the main character (or is it a descendant)?
3.are there new demons?
4.what new things can we expect?
5.what do you hope to see on a new Devil summoner game that maybe previous didn't have?
6.would you be exited for its release? (if yes why?)(if not why not?)

P.S. please stay on topic ^_^

About the last question, yes. I am excited.

Why? the return of the Dynamic Duo of Kozuma Kaneko and Shoji Meguro. As well the grat Devil Summoner Raidou experience on steroids. Specially using a Demon´s power to change shape in order to perform undercover tasks and running around like an idiot.

You can totally tell I´ll turn to a Geisha and pick on random people.

So far most translations lead to Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Abbadon King, as the Black Ninjas are Foot Soldiers, and the Red Ninja seems to be a High Ranking member of the Avadon King´s army.

If you guys announce it at Anime Expo, I demand that Raiho plushies and pens that look like those summoning tubes be given away. DEMAND

Though I'd settle for a Raiho keychain.

You don't want to play it just because Kaneko didn't work on it?

Lame.

Yeah, Shigenori Soejima isn't as good as Kaneko, but his designs work just fine.

Lame.

Exactly, the games look LAME.

*prepares for flames*

In all seriousness, I just don't like the direction they've taken with the new Persona games. I've played 3 and it's just not my thing. Soejima has too much of a stereotypical anime style and it turns me off. If his stuff does it for you, great, more power to you. I'm not sold on it though and I'm not going to play a game that I think is ugly and been done a million times. There are of course other reasons that I don't have any desire to play them: the bad music, the high school sim aspects, the commu link system, the use of SMT demons as Persona, but that's for another thread. ;)

OT:
1- for Japan: comes out the 23rd.
2- still Raidou, 14 or so years later.
3- looks like 2x the demons as the first game, possibly more. I'm guessing they'll be reincarnated from previous games, hopefully Soul Hackers is one of them.
4- looks like you'll be able to use two nakama in battle. Plus they can help you negotiate with other demons to get them to join your party. You can pass abilities on through fusion at Goumaden - battle, investigation, and memory skills. Up to six "memory" skills can be applied to demons and all transfer over during fusion. This is about all I've gotten from briefly skimming over scans of game mags.
5- Personally, I hope they bring back the "loyalty"-system. You could really abuse that in the older DS titles to your advantage. Here's to hoping that you can get extras for importing save data from Choriki Heidan!
6- Of course I'm excited... but in all honestly I'll probably import like I always do. :)

He's the character designer of overall Megaten series, most protagonists designed by him look like Brian Molko.

Never heard of it, but do you really hate anime? Cause Kaneko's earlier works had a way more generical anime style than Noejima's.

It's an old gay disco song. :D

Anyway, I don't hate anime, just can't stand a lot of it these days. I'm not a huge fan of Kaneko's stuff pre-Persona though.

In Kaneko's defense, most of his designs prior to Persona II were part of the "realistic school" that dominated manga and anime in the late 80's-early 90's. By the time he finished work on SMT II & SMT If..., you can see his style moving towards the "porcelian" look that made him so distinguished.

If you ever get the chance (or the finances), import the Kazuma Kaneko Works Vols I-III. Viewing each one in order gives a facinating look at his progression as an artist. It is also rather neat to see just how much (or little) of the core design for your favorite demons have changed over the years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Kaneko-basher. :P He's probably like THE major talent that works on Megaten games and the ONLY reason I still play them. :seesaw:

There are a couple of websites (English and otherwise) that have scans from these books, as well as the "Pandaemonium" books he released prior to these in the early to mid 90s, so I know exactly what you're talking about. You can clearly see his designs get stylistically more precise, but I think a lot of his early stuff has this real "honest" quality to it that I really like. A lot of his demons are based on actual depictions of these creatures in old/ancient paintings, tapestries, etchings, etc. so it's not surprising that they haven't changed much design-wise.

/nerd

EDIT: vaguely OT:

The first Devil Summoner is a pretty rad, underrated game. I've only been able to play it via nefarious illicit means but it's definitely a shame it's so rare otherwise.
