ATLUSA.R.A.M: Welcome to T.A.L.K., a generic venue for the asking of questions and the giving of answers. I am your host, Atlus’ supercomputer and heartless automaton, AtlusA.R.A.M. I enjoy advanced algorithmic processing and long wheels through the park.
ENOUGH ABOUT ME! Our guest today is the Talking Shovel from Master of the Monster Lair, an upcoming dungeon-making RPG for Nintendo DS™.
It is a pleasure to have you on this program.

SHOVEL: Great to be here! I’m usually head-deep in dirt, so this is, as you might imagine, a welcome change.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: Undeniably. Please, could you describe yourself and your function?
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: I’m a shovel. I dig holes.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: I find this information fascinating to process.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Currently I’ve been helping South Arc take care of a little monster infestation. A first-rate dungeon can be a pretty effective trap. Whatever it takes to get the job done, I’m glad to lend a hand – err – handle.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: If you would please permit me one moment of silence. *beep-boop-beep* Thank you.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: What was that?
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: I have just sent another email to our Faithful mailing list.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Do you do that often?
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: I have just sent out the third such mailing.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Today?
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: IN THE LAST HOUR! This game seems to make the task of shoveling dirt around genuinely satisfying.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Yes, but it isn’t just about digging holes in the dirt; that’s just a small part of it! You have to customize and explore your dungeon, collect treasure, and vanquish any monsters that have settled in.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: It seems you are providing an invaluable service. COURTEOUS MODE INITIATED! Also, you have an admirably polished handle and a handsome head. COURTEOUS MODE TERMINATED!
This all sounds like an incredibly challenging task. As a computer with the combined processing power of every consumer electronics device in the world, I of course would have no difficulties, but the average human would probably fail miserably.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Actually, it’s quite easy. I do most of the work anyways, and I do it lightning quick. It’s magic, the same way I’m able to talk.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: Ah, excellent. You have managed to preempt my next question. Regretfully, I will still need to read it as my programming does not allow for alteration of an in-progress queue.
How are you capable of generating vocal communication?
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Do you want me to answer that again?
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: Yes, but unfortunately we are out of time. Thank you so much for joining us, my inanimate friend. Let’s do this again sometime.
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Sure, I’d love—
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: THAT WAS MERELY A FORMALITY! NO QUESTIONS REMAIN FOR YOU!
Thanks again. Is there anything else you’d like to add before I initiate my standard two hour long “final thoughts” monologue?
http://www.atlus.com/res/shovel.jpg
SHOVEL: Well, I just hope people give dungeon-making a shot. It’s easy to do, and a lot more fun than doing yard work.
http://www.atlus.com/res/atlusarameye.jpg
ATLUSA.R.A.M: How admirable, Shovel with the ability for intelligible speech. May all the dirt you encounter be soft and porous.
TWO-HOUR FINAL THOUGHTS MONOLOGUE INITIATED!
