About Eternal Poison
Our world descended into chaos the day the demonic realm of Besek appeared. Creatures known as the Majin emerged, wreaking havoc and destroying our way of life. They captured the Princess of Valdia and imprisoned her in their lair. Now, brave adventurers throughout the land have set out to explore the Majin homeland. Some wish to rescue the princess; some seek fame and glory; some merely want revenge. However, there are those who look to harness the Majin's dark powers, for it is rumored that deep within Besek lies the Eternal Poison, a legendary treasure able to make your deepest desires come true. Travel the paths of some of these adventurers, and as their tales unfold, you will discover the true meanings of romance, heroism, madness, despair, and betrayal...

Key Features
• Five stories in one—Walk the winding paths of five different parties as they journey deeper into hostile lands. With branching paths and optional encounters, you must chart each course carefully, for your choices will have a direct impact on the outcome of each tale.
• Capture and collect demons—All demons can be exploited - even bosses - so every battle offers the intriguing choice of binding or killing your foes. Bound demons can be summoned to fight at your side or be sacrificed for money or new spells.
• Gorgeous dark fantasy world—Step into a twisted fairytale world of demons, black magic, and a quest for the ultimate treasure. The kidnapping of the Princess and the temptation of finding the Eternal Poison have drawn your heroes into a world full of dangerous traps, fiendish monsters, and unexpected villains. Discover a world that is as rich in beauty as it is in corruption.

Eternal Poison has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

That would make the game boring. I believe this animation speed is kinda like the Super Robot War series. Each battle takes about 15-30 seconds and you battle like 10+ times per turn.

Edited: Fixed.

j/k. I'll buy this, even though I'm not really much into SRPGs... I like Yggdra Union so far, so maybe my mind will change.

Interesting change of pace.

And congrats, Futomimi.

Maybe you get to decide the final cover art. :P

I notice the Bandai-Namco logo on the official website...

Does this debunk rumors that the B-N/Banpresto merger would stop Atlus from publishing (OG) SRT games?

On the other hand... My wallet just became empty because of this and the other releases in late '08.

I was gonna be so sad if this never saw NA. I actually thought it wasn't.. but yay! Happy <3

Totally preordering this. n__n;

I like the art style and the music a lot. The cut scenes look really spiffy too. Not that those things will make a game great.. It cant hurt it though. :3

Hmmm...I think I'll get it. It looks good. I was on the fence about it until I saw the gameplay. Does it lag, or was that just the youtube video?

Sei
08-05-2008, 04:40 PM
^ More loading than lagging, but the animations can be turned off. I think I'll do like with R-type tactics and watch every attack once then turn em off.

The game reminds me of Brigandine which is a good thing.

Day one'ing.

Lady Rayna: How easy/hard is the game?

It's easy. There are some demons that can hit hard but they aren't a problem to defeat. However, there is something that can make the game a bit more challenging (I'm sorry but I'm too lazy to write it again):

I really like the whole demon capturing system. For each demon there is a minimum amount of damage that you have to inflict in order to overkill it. And only by overkilling you’re able to capture it.

This overkill thing can be really frustrating to pull off sometimes.

Logan
08-08-2008, 09:27 AM
Speaking of overkill, Atlus just can't resist localizing crappy SRPGs apparently. Manga Carta had better art and that still wasn't enough to make me buy that piece of ####. Elminage or GTFO.

Day never.

Makes e think of this old chess game called Battle Chess, when you took the other side's pieces there'd be a lil death animation.

Apologies if this was covered in the name guessing contest, but I'm curious as to why the name of this game was changed from Poison Pink to Eternal Poison. Just better for US marketing? Or is there a fundamental reason? I don't think Atlus changes game names often (besides translating them, which doesn't count in this case since Poison Pink is already English), so this one got me curious.

What the other guys said...

"Hey, I heard you got the Poison Pink."
"Yeah, I just picked it up."
"What's it like having it?"
"I wasn't sure what to make of it at first. You can live with it, I guess."
"Is is okay to share then?"
"I dunno. Lemme go home and see if it's getting any better."
