More over, unlike in the United States, most kids in Japan can't really dish out a huge amount of money to buy a next-gen console just because a new game, an amazing one is to be released soon. As far as lack of Voice Actors, I kinda like the 90's era of silent JPRGs. Some lines are just more impact if they're read, rather then heard.
On the other hand, some lines sound moronic once performed by an actor.

Supposedly. But I rarely go by other people's word, and NINE's footage gives off a diverse, dynamic vibe. Maybe even moreso than Nocturne. And that element is definitely something that's lacking from a few of the more recent games.

It's definitely not for the casuals, but I think NINE's 'hardcore' reception was quite positive.

Additionally, It probably would not be that hard to include the 'Nocturne Manaix Chronicle Edition' since most of the game has already been translated by Atlus. (That's just my opinion, I have no idea how much has been added to the new version.)

Unless the new Nocturne is a major improvement, say, like FES, there is no reason why Atlus should really bother with it, in my opinion. If speculation's on to something and it's just a Dante-to-Raidou swap...what's the point? We already have the Maniax version, anyway.

Even though Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army was a bit of a chore at times (frankly, every MegaTen is, at some point), I ultimately had fun and enjoyed the game quite a bit. Lighthearted and silly as it was, it actually managed to raise a difficult question at the very end, even if that question required some outside knowledge of the rest of the series.

That and I immensely enjoyed telling the dog that my dream was "Neo-Zeon" :D

I wanted vs. King Abaddon when I heard the combat system was seriously updated and that I'd get to have more fun with the most badass detective of them all. But, when I learned that the Law/Chaos system makes a comeback, along with demon negotiation, and that the plot might just tie even closer to the main SMT storyline, I've just been wanting it more.

So, yeah, I'd preorder this and probably whatever goodies Atlus would see fit to give us, especially if it was the Chronicle Edition of Nocturne.

... and on that subject, I'm really suspecting that Atlus Japan's release of this new version of SMT3 and the attention they're paying to the original continuity is setting up for SMT4. I mean, didn't they do the same thing back in 2003 to prepare for Nocturne?

Based on my spirit quest, there are/were a lot of unsold copies of this game floating around. I would be surprised, but not shocked, if this game were passed over.

Persona 3 pretty much opened my eyes to the SMT series. I remember looking at Digital Devil Saga in a game store a long time ago(maybe around when it first came out) and just glanced at it, but thought it was interesting. Money was really strict then and sadly I didn't get it. I kinda regret not getting into SMT sooner.

Finished Persona 4 last week and picked up a used Nocturne(w/soundtrack) for $40 a couple days ago and am enjoying it very much. I was originally looking for Devil Summoner RKvsTSA since on Gamestop's website it had a listing for a "NEW" copy at a nearby store, but the store said they didn't have it. Might just pick one up on ebay eventually. But if Atlus were to announce the new Devil Summoner(or any other SMT game) I would definitely purchase it day one.

I don't feel very alienated, to be honest with you. P3 and P4 were right up my alley, the same for Persona 2 and older Megaten games. I feel bad for the "hardcore" fans that can't get into the newer games because they're so stuck in their old ways.

Really, I'm a bit surprised Atlus hasn't said much about this game yet, as far as announcements or even hints go. While I know DS3 wasn't exactly the best received game in terms of it's gameplay (the plot and characters were fantastic, which is usually par for the course with the SMT games), DS4 is a fantastic improvement over DS3 is pretty much every department, and I would love to play the game in English before too long.

It's been out two months in Japan now, and Persona 4's been out about a month here, so I'm hoping something'll come along soon as far as hints or announcements go. I think it'd be silly for Atlus to pass over this game, and I also think it'll be somewhat unlikely give the treatment the SMT games are getting these days.

Yeah, I know I'm not saying that hasn't been said yet in this thread, but that's fine by me. I'm just hoping we'll hear word from the guys at Atlus about this sooner rather than later. Maybe early in the new year, if we're really lucky.

Bonus points if you guys do the announcement on the 4th (my birthday), as unlikely as that is :p

Yeah,I understand people have their own opinions, and I'm not going to start an argument with anybody that doesn't like what I do, or try and force them to like it. I've just read some opinions where the older fans write off the recent Persona games because it's "teen anime doodoo". That's a really hard opinion for me to grasp. Especiailly where you can tell that they are good games in their own right even if it's not what you're into.

Oh, no. I wasn't pointing to you. This was on another forum where I was reading about P4. I grew up on old NES RPGs like Dragon Warrior, then later moved on to the SNES RPG era. Finaly Fantasy III, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, etc. I feel the same. I'm usually combined in both worlds, and it works for me.

Well, I just tried out the Japanese version, which means that I can now vouch for the game mechanics. I liked the speed and intuitiveness of Crisis Core and vs. King Abaddon reminds me of that smoothness. I like the combo system and the ability to shoot the revolver (I'm guessing it's a .38 special, would I be right?) manually, along with the dodge-roll and the ability to keep allies out of trouble or issue instant commands. All the while, it keeps the same style as vs. the Soulless Army, which I dig.

However, this game also features more kanji than the typical MegaTen, so I really can't read jack... :| doesn't help that opening scene's dialogue-heavy.

So, I hope it's announced soon! I got chills when I went to the shrine and a blonde boy with a satchel case was waiting for me, complete with ominous music! I must know what happens!

(thanks to the JP Plus version, I care slightly less about getting Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition, since it kinda serves as a "Super Special Awesome Japanese Language Test" as I learn more... but it'd still be nice...!)

Alot of the recent anouncments from Atlus have pleased me with an exception or two but I have a nagging feeling that this game, much like many of the other PS2 titles we'd all like will never see a domestic release due to the system's age. Great PS2 games have droped in numbers drasticly. From what I can see, over the next 6 months we got only a handfull of titles worth picking up. Sure, we have Ar Tonelico 2, Nobunaga's Ambition, King of Fighters 98, Dynasty Warriors:Gundam 2, and Guitar Gero:Metalica, but while that sounds like a lot, many of those games are nich market material. While I myself look forward to them even I know most of those are not triple A titles. Sure wish Atlus would relieve our anguish and tell us if this game will ever see the light of day though. I'd still Day 1 it like I did the previous game as well.

I understand your concerns, but if P4 sold well (and I have every reason to believe it did/still does) then the system's age becomes an invalid argument for Atlus USA not to pick it up. Rather I would look to sale numbers and overall ratings (http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ps2/devilsummonerkuzunoharaidou) for the first DS to draw a better conclusion.

I curious about the Nocturne disc that comes with the JP version. Does it just replace the Dante model with a Raidou one, or does Raidou have his own little storyline in it.

As far as dialogue goes, Gouto (along with other demons) does all the talking so that Raidou can remain silent. I also hear a rumor that it irons out an official ending to Nocturne, but take that with a grain of salt. The music's exactly the same, though.

No, I don't agree. There are already FIVE Atlus games coming in March. One more is ridiculous planning, not to mention the fact that Persona 4 JUST came out and is presumably still selling (i.e. they'd be their own competition). And don't forget that this game probably has a ton more text than the other games they've been pumping out on the DS and PSP.

On the other hand, PS2 games are slowly but surely being pulled from shelves and thrown into bargain bins at most retailers all over the world, so time is sort of against them. *suddenly I'm getting a Radio Allergy vibe from this* My educated guess is May or June at the most, and this will most likely be their last PS2 game.

That's what the confirmation rumor says. Though, as with any rumor, there are dissenters, so it'll be in flux until somebody actually confirms this and/or Atlus USA brings it here.

Though, I thought the True Demon ending was the canon ending before I heard that rumor. There are several reasons, ranging from the TDE path granting the most information to the protagonist, to the logical argument that Lucifer wouldn't play this kind of game with someone he wasn't sure he could convince (this is, after all, the only time he's been shown to grant anyone this level of power). However noble Lucifer may be (which is up to question), and no matter what he says, he's playing to win.

After watching a few videos.. the idea of two demons sounds pretty cool. Raidou looks pretty hilarious doing all those crazy melee attacks, he seems a lot stronger.
