From what my students over 35 say, music has more and more English every year. I really really really really hate popular Japanese music. Now bands like DMBQ, now that is a fun live show. I saw them play in a club in Koenji, Tokyo with a band called The Oshiri Penpenz(The Spanks) they were pretty funny. Think technical Jaz with the Japanese version of Iggy Pop from The Stooges days. DMBQ was like Psychadeic rock but super technical and super tight, ####ing amazing show finishers.

Driving a car at 60 miles an hour on a rural road, especially in a car that isn't yours without a license or a permit, is monumentally stupid even at 14. However, I remember when I was a kid I really wanted Illusion of Gaia for the SNES, so my Grandparents gave me the money to buy the game, but before my Dad could take me to the store he informed me my Mother had already bought it as a Christmas present. Christmas day came and I opened up the present pretending to be surprised but Mom could tell I wasn't really surprised. She was pretty disappointed of course (yeah, I told her the whole story).

In January I bought a DS Lite for my Cousin he was absolutely ecstatic when he opened his present. There really isn't a greater joy seeing a family member or loved one's expression when opening their present (especially when you know it's something they want). This kid's parents spent over $300 on his present and I could imagine them talking about what his reaction is going to be like when he finally opens it up, but no he peeked the day before and his parents will never see the true reaction this kid must have expressed when he seen the Xbox 360 for the first time.

I'm disappointed that his brother didn't film his reaction when he was given the 360 after the camera stopped rolling.

So we would already know what we were going to get, it didn't make the present any less significant. Yeah, they did. According to his brother at least (who posted the video) he says the kid ran out of the room then his parents took the clothes out of the box and replaced it with the actual 360, then they called him back again and told him to try on the clothes.

My parents did something similar to my older sisters because they were being little bitches on Christmas eve. My dad took chunks of burned wood out of the stove and put that in their stockings and hid all of their stuff in another room. Yes, we laughed at them but their disappointment disappeared as soon as the joke was revealed.

20 some odd years later, they often tell the story and everyone gets a good laugh out of it. That kid was probably so happy and relieved it was just a prank and he DID get his XBox, that it didn't even matter to him. Kids are resilient. Every kid peeks at some point or another, and it's technically wrong. He was really getting what he deserved. He paid for being nosy and still got surprised at the end of it all.
