After playing the demo I was quite impressed by this game, and yes I do know that the first one wasn't the best RPG out there, but this one totally mops the floor with it. It also plays, looks, and sounds nothing like the first one, so check it out.

I'd have to try the demo, but I really enjoyed the first game. It brought a nice bit of challenge into a stale genre, and revived the TRPG style battle system based in the exploration elements of a standard RPG.

There were far too many inside jokes, though. Most of them didn't really make any sense when they were translated.

Anyway, yeah. Astonishia Story 2 is day one.

When will this game be released in Korea?

I looked at their website but it just says summer 2008. I guess the release date was delayed because they are adding more voice acting and rebalancing the game based on the user feedback they received.

I played the demo and it was really nothing special.

This is Garnet Chronicle for the PSP.
It's being developed by Sega, with the character designs by the Lineage team.

You lied.

It's the same game with a different name.

Korean developers’ Ntreev Soft long in the work sequel to Astonishia Story will come to Japan as Garnet Chronicle this October. The upcoming issue of Weekly Famitsu has a two-page report on the RPG, showing off the main characters, story outline, screens from the cut scenes, the battle system and announced the voice cast behind the characters. The game is coming out this October 23rd in Japan. A demo of the Korean version can be found here.

This looks interesting. Possible Day one. Have had bad experiences with Koran stuff though, so I am hesitant.

I would get this ASAP if translated. I enjoyed the 1st one, and I agree that this one looks a lot better.

Well, I guess that means this one won't be getting the garbage translation effort that Ubisoft put into the first one.

Seriously, they have to be one of my least favorite localization teams in the entire business.

I wonder if Senko no Ronde would have fared better in America had Atlus localized it instead of Ubisoft.

Even if it's Atlus who localize this game, it doesn't mean it'll magicly become good...I mean I couldn't even play past the starting point of the first game it bore me instantly, of course the part with the bad localization helped a lot but the RPG Maker feel was also to blame.

I have the Asia version of this game and all I can say is that it's really HARD for an RPG. This is probably the only RPG I know of where having the first strike determines whether you survive or not. First strike meaning ambush.

The Asia version also has a ton of horribly amusing English text:
http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/140/11162008706.th.jpg (http://img100.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11162008706.jpg)

The game also has severe balancing issues which are heavily dependent on equipment and stats. It's sort of like Ragnarok Online meets RPG, except harder. When you get to lvl 30 or so and you get access to field teleports, you'll sort of understand what I mean when I talk about the game's difficulty. By the way, all the enemies run faster than you do so if they see you from a distance and start running at you, you're essentially being ambushed, even if you're facing them.

Items and the prices for those items also ramp up the further you get into the game and the amount of money you earn from enemies is basically peanuts.

This is a very masochist-oriented game where the game is built to be hard for no reason. The Prinny game, on the other hand, is also hard but it's an excellent example of how to beat the game through patience and deliberate strategy.

Since Atlus is going to sell such a difficult game, it would be wise to give people a head's up that the game is very DIFFICULT.

If I beat Call of Duty: World At War on veteran, than this'll be treated as a normal game.

^Yeah, because the genres are so similar...
