View Full Version : Anyone else frustrated by this too?

Okay, I'm the type of gamer who likes to level up and pwn a baddie at 20 levels up than I should be. Back in the original Persona 3 game, I usually leveled up little by little since I didn't want my character getting tired or sick the next day. Then I went all out on the day before the full moon. I don't know if anyone noticed, but on the day before the full moon, you can level up to your heart's content and NEVER get tired. Any character that was sick/tired before was also fully recovered. It was a blast since I got to make up for days I was too lazy to level up.

In the FES edition? No sell. To my horror, you and your characters get tired before the full moon. Any characters that were tired/sick before either remain sick/tired or are in worse condition if they were tired. Which basically means, they won't be leveled up before the big fight.

Anyone else frustrated by this? I had hoped this glitch would've carried over in the FES edition but... I guess not. :(

What difficulty are you on? If you're on hard, that feature might've been changed for challenge. But even then, I never really had a problem level grinding.

This was intentional to stop people from doing Tartarus all at once the day before the final battle. Not to mention stopping people from taking advantage of the day before the full moon.

I generally cleared out the floors the first day or two of the month, so it didn't bother me at all. You really don't even need to lvl grind anyway.

You're right. I get so worried about my characters being at low leveled. :P I'm a very cautious cat, lol. I look both ways before I cross a street.

I do the same too. I clear out house on the first day Elizabeth gives me the go. Then I spend the rest of the days just leveling here and there. it's just... it gets boring and tedious leveling up. I'm playing the game more for the story than for the combat. Unfortunately, the SM games have never been forgiving to me when I don't level enough.

In my experience, leveling doesn't get you jack #### in this game. In fact, the game seems to actively discourage it, since enemies give you less and less EXP the higher your level gets.

Besides, once you get about halfway up the tower it doesn't matter what level you are, if you #### up enough in battle you're going to die. You need to play smart instead of just GRINDAN.

Oh, and FYI, if you get tired on the night before a full moon it should heal itself and make you normal by Full Moon time.

Yeah, but being at level 99 with 999 HP and MP certainly made life a lot easier.

Nah, I get you. I'll probably back off from leveling my characters and just go for it. I gotta admit, though, it's a real rush when you can land one blow and instantly KO a boss when you're thirty levels above him/her.

actualy, on the nights before the full moon, even though you and your team can get tired they wont leave, so you dont have to worry about them not being their when you need them.

Currently ten levels over what I should be, rather late in the game, and not having a single problem.

I have a huge problem in that Tartarus makes it so hard to get back in the game.

There is nothing to do but fetch things, beat monsters, reach a gate and wait, and play three card monty for more experience and gold, and hop to the next floor before Death comes knockin' (on your @#$% skull).

With the sheer amount of power at the hands of the main char, you have to really be off your game to fall flat... Find weakness, exploit weakness, rinse, repeat. ATLUS, I dig alot of what you do, and I adore the storyline, characters, and feel of ALL the SMT derived games you release in the USA. and THANK YOU for FES... But Tartarus is FAR from the wicked wonderland I had hoped it would be when I started playing. Some shuffling floors where you have puzzles to solve, some pits that drop you to other floors and damage you, some obstacle toward getting further up the Twisted Tower...

I really am far more interested with what is going on outside of Tartarus.

I second that motion. :D Ranking up on Social Links is so much fun than ranking up in Tarturus.

Now that you mention it, I remember Mitsuru saying that just because it's the night before an ordeal doesn't mean they (SEES members) won't get tired, and I laughed. I thought "Crap... No more level grinding, huh?"
I think your level dictates how long it takes you to get tired in the Tarturus...

And now I know... I was leveling the night before an ordeal when Minato, Junpei, and Akhihiko got tired. But by the next day, their statuses were 'Good'.

yeah, that's part of why I like to level up my characters. The higher the number the longer it takes for them to get tired (for the protagonist, I think it helps to equip a persona with high endurance since that'll take him awhile to get tired). I really hate it when I try to reach the boss at a certain level and most of my characters arrive tired from all those annoying random battles we stumbled along the way. Worse, they immediately leave once I return to ground level so I can't take them with me to the next boss. Right now, I've purchased a high-leveled persona just to 'scare' the random baddies in the area away from my group. After taking care of the bosses, I go back to level up some. (I thinking equipping high-leveled personas is a good idea since if things get tough, you can equip that persona and reach to a return portal without opposition.)

the first runthrought without my guide book i was at level 25 on 8/21 i think
and when i got my book i was on level 30 8/1 and i think the battles are a ton easier
but i agree with the people saying that they thought tartarus was ganna be way more fun. i would rather expand my acedimics or charm at the coffee shop than waste time in tartarus just fighting :agree:

Everytime I go to tartarus I'd always grind until everyone's tired. If my party gets tired faster than the MC then I'd just solo grind Tartarus on an easier floor until the MC's tired too hence why I only need to go to tartarus once or twice in a week and sometimes I get the last week or two of the month free without grinding since I usually reach the barricades within 2 weeks....ahhh so close to P4 :D

You usually go to Tartarus 3~4 times a month or less, so grind until you're tired, you're most likely to recover it going to the washroom anyways.
Levels do help you, but Persona + S.Link helps you more and you can still get murdered by a boss in one turn. Well, in the first playthrough, anyways.

Honestly levels aren't usually the problem, it's the personae you are carrying and the party members you are using. Of course, persona are linked to your level but your level should never be a problem if you are doing all the requests. Only late game I ever found grinding to be a necessity but by then you can Armageddon or use Samsara or Die for Me!

Seriously if you find you do need levels just kill the red enemies. They give xp way above what the regular enemies give.

Die for me never works... I use it on enemy with weakness and it always end up 1 or 0 out 3 kills. Armageddon is the way to go.

well i usually avoid that situation, after a full moon Elizabeth will call you, saying that the path can now be opened, from that point on go to tartarus and accept all the request that require defeating monsters and keep going up until while completing all the request i accepted, and keep fighting until you've reach the old document. see what happens to your lvl. now i can have more time with social links than going to tartarus training and ascending little by little. its very effective really, and i never had a problem of rushing at the last minute and being under lvled.

but those monsters are F***ing hard and most likely able to wipe you out.
