Well since there's been a bit of new information concerning this game revealed since Microsoft's Gamer's Day event I figured now would be a good time to make a thread for it. Here are a few screens...

I always wanted to like the first Fable, and I know this is a cliche response, but the build up was waay too big. Hopefully the second will follow through with everything that is promised.

I liked Fable, though I had never heard anything about it before the game was released. This was before I paid any attention to gaming news.
I heard from my brother that there would be some sort of co-op. Looking forward to that.

I enjoyed the first one but I didn't really like it. I went out of my way to make the game longer by finding everything and doing every task possible. I still think it was only a 15 hour game. But it was fun. But nothing to go to back to.
I was really hyped for the first one, but then it was a terrible letdown. Pretty much every thing they promised ended up not being in the final game which was a rather short rather generic 3rd person action RPG.
I hope this one will be better, but the 1 button combat system doesn't give me a lot of hope for it.

I had a good, sheltered video game history.
I started with NES, moved on to SNES late into the end of its life cycle, and then finally I got a Dreamcast whose untimely death forced me into the PS2 vs. Gamecube vs. X-Box generation. From there on I've been getting into the recent consoles.
I missed the whole PS1 and N64 generations, and I never had a PC to work with.

I hardly touched PC games either, but it is hard to miss Molyneux's work. Oh well....doesn't really matter.

I've been meaning to ask... is that Ringo Starr pointing a gun at his head?
RayFoxSith
05-13-2008, 03:45 PM
LOL, yeah. I find it ironic in numerous ways. He's the oldest Beatle and one of the only survivors. Seeing him point a gun to his head when he was young made me LOL.

I think Fable was fun, from what little I played, but the hype revolving around it made me feel a little underwhelmed.
Fable 2 looks good, but what is up with this 1-button combat? Sounds like a lot of button mashing.

Leave it to Molyneux to overhype a game and then turn it to ####. You will understand if you ever play B&W2. The first one was great, the second one was terrible.

I have both Fable and Fable: Lost Chapters. Originally, I bought Fable used for 7 bucks, but I notice lots of loading lags, corrupted saves, and also occasionally hanging. And so, I bought a new copy of Fable: Lost Chapters for 11 bucks. Very cheap. Unfortunately, I experienced the same problems and it seems that the first discovery of the loading lags, etc.. had nothing to do with the idea that the game was used. I hope Fable II will have smoother loading times and no lags.
Fable was quite a good game if the game did not have any graphical glitches, lags, and problem with the hero save corruptions. I started the Lost Chapters without using the hero save even once, yet the saves still get corrupted if I try to reload the save 2-3 times within 30 minutes.

What were you playing it on, a 360?
No. I was playing it on an used Xbox the Original. Not sure what to call it. I think it was called Xbox, but at times.. People tend to confuse Xbox with Xbox 360.
I rarely play my Xbox nowadays.. Halo 2 doesn't even work at all. After wasting an hour creating a character, the game froze at the map loading screen.

Never had a problem with Fable TLC. Love Peter Molyneaux's work, for the most part (never bothered with B&W2, the first was nigh perfect.)
Shortly into Fable, I found ways to get easy exp, so I have played it alot.
The problem with Fable (even TLC) is that of most games, the gear and skills are so stratified in terms of power, no matter how much variety your endgame just feels the same.
I want a game where I am forced to spend talent points, but also liabiliies. Like what if for you to grow in one element of magick, you had to become deficient in another. Guild based games, like Etrian Odyssey would have alot more variety. In stories and associations, people's flaws are as important as their strengths. In Fable, you don't really get any weaknesses.
I liked it, in a monty python kind of way, and usually prefer the mid-game where the illusion things won't end in you being a monster or a martyr. moral ground needs middle ground.
That being said, day one, and already paid off for months.

Sounds like you have a bad Xbox...
My Xbox was fine and I had a save file corrupt too. Might buy this depending on reviews. Didn't like the first one much. This seems like one of the better LE's in a while though. I wonder how limited It'll be.

Well i am defently gone buy this game... from what i been hearing/seeing all live footage videos
They say themselves they are VERY Focused on RPG... like everything from Marrige and a kid... to... ur wife being mad/angry xD nothing like a lil bed cant fix...
from what i hear... to get everything in the game u need... milllions... like 100 millions from what i heard that producer say ;P that why they not worried about PUB currupting or runing the game....
You can pretty much marry anyone u want even same sex O.o so make a female and love a female (i wonder if u can have a kid that way lol that weird if u can)
The Fighting sort of seems fun it reminds me lil bit of Too Human with that... fast moving from enemy to enemy.. ;P
the World is i belive alot bigger
the producer himself apologised for not being able to put all things they promised in Fable... but with bigger budget he says that they will redeem themselves :P
Their alot more side quests and such... and if u want to contiue along the main quest their is of course the bread crumbs or something that u follow that shiney O.o (Crack Bread Crums/Pixi dust)
But ya i am interested in game and is going to be one of the games i buy this winter...
Along with Left 4 Dead, Fallout 3, Infinite Undiscovered (no idea why everyone has problem with the name *Shrugs*), The Last Remnant, Gears Of War 2, Dead Space, Mirrors's Edge
PS2- Eternal Poison, Persona 4 ;D
2009
(Darksiders which is like Zelda from what i hear, Resident Evil 5, FFXIII)
XD it gone be a fun 6-10 months ;) *gone have to hit couple banks during this winter lol*

Since I don't want to make a new topic about Fable 2 and it's pub games, i'm putting this here.
If you reserve fable 2 (Reg or CE/Limited) at a local EBGames/Gamestop, you should be provided with a card containing a code you can redeem on XBL to download the Pub Games. Initially, the Pub Games are worth 800 microsoft points. So instead of paying 800 MSP for the pubgames, go ####in' reserve yourself a copy of Fable 2 and get the free download!

I was at 70,000 gold winnings as of this this morning. will try and clear a million by monday.
Here are some pointers.
Don't worry about losing. in fact you are better off just playing spinners or cards and just hitting A over and over until you can play high stakes games. you might go in debt, but they loan you money, and when you play higher stakes tables... you can go rack up playing 1500 gold hands, or just running tournaments and pay off your debts.
Raithgar

I'm actually doing something somewhat similar, Attacking the tournaments (getting into debt) then using the Tower game to repay my depts..
Not particularly fond of the dice or spinner games..

Bad news for the CE...
Dear Amazon.com Customer,
Recently, Microsoft Games Studios announced the Fable II game is in manufacturing and confirmed for Oct 21st in North America. However, due to supply chain issues, Microsoft has revised the Fable II Limited Edition contents. The premium box, five printed fate cards, and Hobbe figure will not be available as part of the Limited Edition. We apologize for any inconvenience. The Fable II Limited Edition will now include the following content:
-Fable II game disc
-Bonus DVD with new 'Making-of' Feature
-Bonus In-Game Content (Requires LIVE account) - Includes "The Hall of the Dead" Dungeon, "The Wreckager" Legendary Cutlass Weapon, and Spartan armor and energy sword
I would cancel my preorder for it right now if I hadn't got it for $67 shipped. This is the worst gimping of a CE I've ever seen... Hell, I can't even remember when the contents of a games packaging changed in such short notice.
Sakubo
10-03-2008, 11:18 AM
I was thinking of canceling my collectors edition as well. Not only did they reduce the contents to make it suck, if you buy the regular verison from amazon you get a 10 dollar card. You dont get it with CE edition. So your basically 20 dollars more for a video I wont watch and some in game crap it should have come with anyway.
Raithgar
10-04-2008, 01:26 PM
Chances are, the exclusive "in game" content on the CE will be available for download most likely @6 months after release (for a price of course).. I'm still on the fence in regards to picking up or canceling my preorder of the CE

Team Xbox review...
http://reviews.teamxbox.com/xbox-360/1598/Fable-II/p1/
And the scores for those of you not in the mood for sludging through the whole thing:
Team Xbox: 8.9
Gamespot: 8.5
IGN: 8.8
TLDR on the reviews: Game is about 12 hours for main quest, story is flat, morals are mostly meaningless, coop sucks, basically, more of what part one delivered, but not what even part one promised. Review scores are good tho!.
On the positives, they note it's funny, and that there are plenty of side quests, some of which are quite interesting.
Preorder cancelled!. Molyneux never fails to dissapoint.

Game looks good I might buy a 360 for this....just as soon as resistance 2, Valkyria chronicles, naruto ninja storm, fallout 3, and little big planet leave my system (which could take a while) but seriously I might put my hate of Xbox to the side for this or if Shenmue 3 comes out on this (which is unlikely).
Some of you have played a bit of it by now, and I am still on the fence here...... Is it worth it or maybe wait til' later to get this game?
Cheers, thanks!!

I liked Fable one A LOT and then I like everyone else beat it in under 12 hours'ish. But those first couple of hours where a lot of fun. Once I realized the game wasn't a challenge and I had no chance of ever dying unless I played with my eyes closed and didn't have my hands anywhere near the controller then I could conceivably die.
What I am going through now is, should I wait for Fallout III on Tuesday or get this? I go on vaca Friday after work, so I would like only 1 game to direct my gameplay to, but I will get the other one later on!!!
Cheers, thoughts please?

Hey Tom, I remember you from the Operation Darkness boards on GameFaqs. This is OriginOfTime if that means anything to you, lol. Anyways, Fallout 3 is pretty much EdlerScrolls IV: Oblivion, except in post apocalyptic Washington DC in the year 2200+ (somewhere around there.) As far as Fable 2 goes. I think it's a really good game as far as I have played.
There is a lot to do in it and you're free to do many things in it. As far as the game's main storyline goes, it's around 10-12 hours. Relatively short, but that's if you played the main story without doing things on the side. I'm just giving some opinion, but ultimately the choice is up to you. If you're not completely sure, then go with Fallout 3. When you have time and money, if a used copy of Fable2 is available at a Gamestop, get that and check it out for a few days. Then, abuse the used item return policy at the store if it's not something you like.
I'm on a lunch break, so I'll post back later tonight, still unsure here which one to get....
Cheers, great posts guys and I do remember, I'm not "that old", yet anyways!! LOL

Hey buddy, I remember ya over there, I got the same thing going for Operation Darkness, I still hav'nt finished it for my last posts reasons, SIGH......
I'm leaning more and more onto Fallout III right now, a longer game it seems and a bit more to offer as well. I have until Moday to actually decide, so that is one good thing.

All of you hating on Fable, well, you're missing out. It is a great game, with tons to do on the side. I find my self easily distracted exploring. The combat is also awesome, some of the most fun I've had with a combat system in a while.

Just finished the game about an hour ago.. The ending was less than what I expected considering the hype of "choices" and "repercussions". First play through was with a basically good alignment (the halo around my head was annoying). Planing on a second play though going evil, but not until I can finish Dead Space then Fallout 3.
It felt like when you where a kid, and looking forward to a family vacation.. having a blast on the 20+ hour car trip (with plenty of road side attractions to keep you occupied).. only to find out that your long awaited destination was transformed into a septic plant. OK maybe not the best analogy.. but moderately fitting.
worth the 60 $$ worth of "gas" for the trip overall, or maybe wait for the next road trip (Fallout III)?
Cheers

That depends mostly on your play-style. If you enjoy taking the time to do the number of side quests (some unlock hidden weapons or open up buying options on houses/shops), then I would have to say yes.. I haven't checked on how much time i spent on the game, but I believe I've gotten my $ per hour ratio. The only fault I could find in the game was how they did the ending. Other than that.. it was a nice time killer.
I really can't say if you should wait for Fallout 3. Only because I hate to recommend games I haven't tired first. But if your patient enough, I have Fallout 3 coming in on the 28th, and should have some impressions to post.
I may just do that, some of the discusion boards about Fallout III are touch and go for being "good" or "it sucks".......
Cheers
