I know where I'm going for lunch today. =d This will be my cheat for the month.
Anyway, when I got home from my 14 hour shift yesterday I made myself a pastrami sandwich with jarlsberg swiss, mayo, and dijon on rye w/caraway seeds. It was slammin'. After that I had a big bowl of Nature Valley Vanilla Nut cereal.
For lunch I had jumbo shrimp w/ veggies in a spicy sambal sauce w/ white rice, an egg roll, and seaweed tofu soup.
Chicken pot pie, a few bottles of water, three or four pretzel sticks, a bowl of roast beef ramen, little bit more water, and that's about it. Being poor FTL!

06-08-2008, 06:46 PM
An energy drink is used to increase your alertness and awareness to your surroundings. Sure, it wakes you up, but it's also made to increase your focus.
When you combine a stimulant (like the ones in energy drinks), with a depressant (like alcohol), it has a negative effect in the long run. The stimulant will wake you up and increase your focus, yet the alcohol will tell your body its capable. Thing is, you're more likely to screw up if there's alcohol in your system, and because of the stimulant, you may actually think you're alert and focused, when you actually aren't.
So, in other words, it just ends up confusing your body, and making you less productive.

The point of most people drinking Red Bull/any energy drink and booze together (mostly at a club or a bar) is so that you can party longer without feeling like you need to stop. It's big at college bars and stuff, at least here in the States.

Oh, come on. I'm not that dumb. I used to work in a bar, so I'm aware. That wasn't my point at all.
Well, that defeats the purpose of it being an energy drink.
Which it does. Mixing an energy drink with alcohol defeats its purpose.
But by mixing the two together, it has a NEW purpose. You catch?

5/5 NetFlix stars. This one is essentially the same as above, only steak instead of chicken and sans rice. Actually has real cheddar and monterey jack cheeses. Best frozen burrito I have ever had the pleasure of eating.

3.5/5 NetFlix stars. As I described these things to Al this weekend, when you open it up, it looks like someone #### diarrhea all over a super thick tortilla. Whatever, I ate the #### out of this thing. No pun intended. Real cheddar cheese is this thing too. First time I've ever seen frozen tacos (taquitos don't count), and so far, I'm pleased. What's awesome about these things, is that all you have to do is open one side of the package and microwave it in that. So not only to I not have to dirty a plate, but I can enjoy my frozen taco with a special chemically created sauce provided by the packaging. This is 21st century tech at work, ppl. Pls, blv.

^ Yeah. Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but my wife is a cake decorator for a profession (mostly wedding cakes, etc) so she's quite picky about these things. That she likes it tells me it must be pretty good. I'll probably give it another shot at some point.

Those kinds of cakes smell damn good while baking/being decorated. You must have some strong willpower to be married to a cake decorator.

I like funfetti for cupcakes better. It's a weird mental thing.

LOL. The chihuahua was a replica of our real life dog.
As far as willpower, it's a combo of two things:
1) Originally it was just a hobby. I did end up eating all the practice cakes. When we moved she decided to try to change careers and ended up getting paid for something she was doing for fun anyway. Now, however, since she does it for a job, there's a lot less being made at home.
2) Incredibly high metabolism. I seem to be jittery all the time.
I can pretty much eat anything and still not gain a pound.

Sayckeone

Ehh, I wouldn't say it's like angel food. Angel food is very light and fluffy and has that distinct taste. Funfetti is just like your average yellow/chocolate cake, only vanilla. As far as box cakes go, it's easily as awesome as awesome gets.

Little Caesar's is still around? Over here, they were only in K-marts and now they all left... The LCs, I mean. Some K-Marts did end up closing back when they went bankrupt though.
So today's food was basically death. This morning I had a a bagel bacon sandwich. With a LOT of bacon. I felt my arteries getting clogged but it was so good! You can't reject bacon... Then i went to Checkers (Rally's for those elsewhere) and got 2 small fries and 2 chicken strip sammiches. I still got half of that if I get hungry later.

If they look like glorified potato wedges to you.... then you are pretty close. They do taste more..... tasty I guess... because there is less potato and the seasoning is really apparant. Sometimes potato wedges taste just like a baked potato and you really can't taste the seasoning.
But also, there's the Fully Loaded fries! "Hot cheese sauce, creamy ranch dressing and bacon pieces make our famous fries down right legendary." Or you can get chili on them. Nobody does that with potato wedgies.

Are those Jalapeno burgers new? i've never seen them before, but I do see regular Bubba burgers all the time
I don't think so. I just don't think a lot of places carry many varieties other than the regular and sweet onions ones.

OMG Everyone go and buy these. Only put cheese and ketchup on them. OMG
Looked all over, Meijer and County Market had the brand but only carried Original & Angus, but not Jalapeno. :(

A salad - argula, basil, tomato, diced ciabatta, fresh mozarella with a balsamic vinaigrette. I washed it down with one of these:

Just finished an instant pizza pop thing, but honestly.. It doesn't taste very good at all. The only good thing about it is that it costs a buck each and its so damn instant, 2 minutes in the microwave only.

I made Lebanese chicken with tumeric and cinnamon pepper paste, lavender and cayenne corn on the cob in a homemade vidalia onion marmalade, and a three rice saffron pilaf with home fired tomatoes and roasted sunflower seeds. I likes to cook.
I also interrupted a impromptu scrubs marathon with beef pho and Vietnamese springrolls with shrimp, scallops and chile in Baltimore.

Marinade:
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tsp olive oil with garlic
1 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground cumin
˝ tsp cinnamon
2 tsp tumeric
˝ tsp ground rosemary
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb chicken breasts, cut into long thin strips. Marinade overnight, if you can.
Sauce:
1 can tomato sauce (I used organic)
1 tbsp margarine
˝ can coconut milk*
3 tsp lemon juice*
1/4 tsp lawry’s
garlic, minced and roasted with the sunflower seeds. Use half in pilaf and half in sauce.
oregano
heavy paprika, pepper to taste
bring to not-quite boil, and then stir in remainder of marinade, return to heat. When it begins to boil, Simmer for 10 minutes.
*This was my substitute for yogurt for a dairy allergy I had to accommodate.
Other ingredients:
Pita bread
Chopped lettuce
Cucumber
Tomato
Chopped red onion (caramelize with honey, apple shavings, and rum until marmalade)
Marinade chicken strips overnight, Cook in covered pan.
Make sauce night before, reheat for best consistency.
Cook chicken on grill or broiler and sandwich with other ingeredients or atop a pilaf. (Best pilaf ever is saffron, lemon zest, pecan, and tomato.)
It sounds like it is high maintenance, but I was playing Soul Calibur IV while I made it.
