Obsidian is developing an RPG based off the Alien series, it will be published by Sega. It's for "next-gen" systems, so I'm assuming 360/PS3/PC.

People need to stop calling the current gen next-gen. It's no longer the next one.

Also I'm not exactly sure what kind of an RPG it's supposed to be, maybe a first or third person shooter with RPG elements...

I hope not. It seems like this is the current trend with Western rpgs.

I want to play as a Predator from a first person point of view with all those neat vision gadgets and other predator technology goodies >_>

You should check out Monolith's Alien vs. Predator game, then. It came out for PC a few years back and lets you play as all three races.

I looked at some screenshots, looks pretty cool. I'll check it out after I'm done with finals.

"Hudson: Is this gonna be a standup fight, sir, or another bughunt?

Gorman: All we know is that there's still no contact with the colony, and that a xenomorph may be involved.

Frost: Excuse me sir, a-a what?

Gorman: A xenomorph.

Hicks: It's a bughunt. "

Oh and

*
Hudson: Let's just bug out and call it even, OK? What are we talking about this for?

Ripley: I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

Hudson: ****in' A...

Burke: Ho-ho-hold on, hold on one second. This installation has a substantial dollar value attached to it.

Ripley: They can *bill* me. Besides, I believe that Cpl. Hicks is ranking officer in this instance.

Hicks: I say we blast off and nuke the site from orbit... It's the only way to be sure*

Looks like this (http://kotaku.com/5152193/rumor-aliens-rpg-canceled-layoffs-hit) game might never see the light of day...

Isn't Obsidian working on that Alpha Protocol game, which basically uses the modified UE3 engine that Bioware used for Mass Effect? It seems to me that they have a habit of taking Bioware's scraps and using them in their own products.

Here's a list of examples
(formatted as:
Bioware's game -> Obsidian's game):

Neverwinter Nights 1 -> Neverwinter Nights 2
KOTOR 1 -> KOTOR 2
Mass Effect -> Alpha Protocol

I'd imagine if this were true, it might be based off of the engine that Bioware's using for Dragon Age perhaps?

It's still just a rumor, but if it's true it'll be a major gaming disappointment.

It's not a rumor, at least, it doesn't seem to be.

Sega might have pulled the plug on Gearbox's Alien title as well, and the layoffs at Obsidian affected the team working on Alpha Protocol.

This could be the end of Obsidian. I hope someone steps in so that doesn't happen. I was really looking forward to their projects.
