View Full Version : Reprint of this too?

A bunch of copies of this have recently appeared on Gamestop's website. A few people have bought them and claim they were in like-new condition with manuals and everything.
I checked the website and they are in fact claiming the game to be in stock, although DDS2 isn't.
Was there a sneaky reprint of this too, or did they just find some hidden cache in their warehouse?

I picked up a copy this afternoon at my local GS and the condition of the case, manual and disc is mint-flawless. It basically looks like Gamestop unwrapped it and slapped a used tag on it.
From what I understand, these are well in circulation again (like Nocturne).

If there was a reprint of this I find it strange that ATLUS would keep the extra stuff. Wait, did your copy come with a PS2 memory card slot-less DVD case? This should tell us if it is indeed a reprint.

Hmm... Nevermind about the extra stuff...

Yeah, I've seen Nocturne and DD1 in the wild on two separate occasions now.

I just ordered myself a copy of DDS. Thanks Gen Eric!
Woah, totally crazy. This has dropped prices of Deluxe editions on eBay a little bit too. Ticks me off a little, since I just bought a complete deluxe set off of eBay just a few months ago, but I got it for only about 100 and prices are still ranging from about 90+, so I didn't lose much. Appears to be the same deal with Nocturne, which I only bought about a year ago, too. Oh well, at least I got the originals with all the stuff for a fairly reasonable price.

Will they, by any chance, release reprints of this online, too?

Is Amazon.com going to have sealed copies of DDS in stock, like they now have for Nocturne?

I think they are selling as used games in Gamestop because Gamestop deleted the new SKU. So instead of making a new SKU for the reprints, they're just selling them as used? That's the only reason I can think of for why they would sell new as used.

I have a question for the owners of the original copies of DDS:
Since there is a reprint, it will drive down its value.
Does this infuriate you or you don't care?

My local gamestop had a copy of DDS1, I picked it up and I'm glad I did. I love the atmosphere in this game, the premise of just chowin down demons is pretty awesome too.

Hell ya. Twikes me off, that does. I spent about $90 buying my mint copy with everything. Ask any sane man": "Hey, If I charge you 100 for this stick of gum today, then tomorrow sell it to Tom over there for 10, think you'll mind?" I don't care that mine goes down in value a bit...just that I was dumb enough to sell it in the first place, then rebuy it when it is ass-hat expensive, and now this. I fail.
Probably old news...

I'm enjoying the reprint of Nocturne, is this worth it?
I'd say so, liked it quite a bit. Pretty decent plot, although part 2 is not as good as part 1.

I think it's worth it. ;) The gameplay's similar to Nocturne, but the main game itself is shorter. It's still good value though, because of all the bonus features and carry-over bonuses. :)

DDS1 is one of my favorite games...ever. But I'm sure somewhere in the world it is someone's least favorite game. So, all just depends on watcha like.

It doesn't have to do with SKUs. I'm pretty sure the SKU would still be in the computer because they still sell new PS2 games, unlike Xbox and GCube. For whatever reason though, Gamestop will open reprints they get and change the price accordingly, which doesn't always mean lower. While Nocturne's price dropped to $50 (wait, wasn't it $40 when the reprint had just happened....?), Fatal Frame 2 and 3 rose to $40 from $30 and $35 each. But back to the original thing, I would guess that somehow they make more money that way. I mentioned before about the XB and GC games. Any new games they had in stock got openned and sold as used. My guess is maybe they get some compensation from the publisher if they don't sell the game, and since used games have a completely different listing than new ones, it's almost impossible to tell which openned new games actually sold compared to real used ones.

They usually quit getting new PS2 games after the initial release, though, unless it's pretty popular or a LE/Greatest Hits edition comes out. If you check, there is no "new" listing for most older Atlus games at their website, only a "used" one. As far as I know, you can look up most of Gamestop's products on their website, so the SKU is probably deleted.
Also, IIRC, iammako works at Gamestop

^^But if you find a new Atlus game at stores, it still rings up as the new sku. They just don't list it online if the main warehouse doesn't have any copies to ship and not enough stores have them to show the product finder.

If you don't mind paying a little extra and shipping, I can sell it to you via Amazon.
The copy of DDS2 I got was the last one on display though, so it was unsealed, so I dunno if I'll be able to find a sealed copy.
If you do want the game, I'll keep an eye out for DDS2 and try to find a sealed copy next time I go out.

Unknown, would you mind if I asked you to do the same thing as Ninja?
Where I live, it seems DDS2 is going to be the hardest for me to find, and if you have an easy time finding the game, I was wondering if I too could buy a copy off of you. I really don't mind if the game is opened, as long as the game is in good condition, and perhaps has the case and manual, im perfectly fine with it.
Please contact me so we can talk about this further. If you have an IM service, we can talk on that whenever you have time.

Yea I'll pay the shipping for sure. I am in Canada so I don't believe Amazon user seller's normally sell to Canadian customers. But if we could figure something out, I'm in for sure.
I will only take a sealed copy, not shelf copies. I know, I'm crazy picky - I can't help it!
I sent an email to Atlus asking if they'll be reprinting DDS2. I'll let everyone know their response when I get it (if i get it).

30 + shipping? Perfectly fine with me. I just hope I can get it off amazon alright (would totally suck if all goes well until someone else buys up the copy lol).
Good luck hunting the copies down, and thanks a ton for going out of your way to help a couple strangers looking for their SMT fix  .
