Taisho year 20, the Capital:
The former city of Edo underwent rapid growth and modernization following the Meiji Restoration. The citizens became divided into two groups: those who harnessed the winds of change to make their fortunes, and those who clung to the old ways into obsolescence. The opposing hopes and dreams of the teeming population clashed, making the Capital an intrigue-filled battleground of ideologies. |

It was in this city that private detective Shouhei Narumi and his assistant, Raidou Kuzunoha, received an unusual request.
“Please kill me…” |
The client was a young girl with fear in her eyes. Narumi and Raidou asked what was going on, but before the girl could explain herself, military policemen in red uniforms appeared out of the evening mist and kidnapped her right in front of the two detectives.

Investigation revealed that the girl is Kaya Daidouji, only daughter of one of the Capital’s wealthiest families. Narumi’s mission for Raidou: use his skills as a Devil Summoner to find Kaya.
Legend has it that the Daidouji family women are possessed by demons, and the family’s current situation makes things even more suspect: the master of the house is gravely ill, with Kaya and her uncle the only two candidates to earn the family fortune. What shadowy figures are at the bottom of the kidnapping? Raidou will need to dig deep to learn the truth.
