YOU are the missing link between the top and bottom screens!
Like every RPG you've ever played, Contact has a main character. UNLIKE those games, however, you (the player) are technically the "hero" of this game, while the main character really just runs around doing your bidding.
Your adventure will progress as you interact with the top and bottom screens. The Professor will offer advice, which you can then put to use guiding Terry on the bottom screen. It's difficult for Terry and the Professor to communicate when they're far apart, so that will be up to you most of the time.

With the unique Decal system, you can use stickers for wild attacks or to increase Terry's abilities!
With eight different Costumes to choose from (for Terry, though you can dress up too if you want), you'll be able to try out a variety of different occupations. Of course, practice will increase the capabilities of each one, so you might want to have Terry master them all.
Why deal with tedious menus or screen-switching combat when you could have speedy real-time battles instead?
Because the skill systems are so flexible, you can focus on enhancing only the areas you feel are most useful to your play style.
Even the Professor's pet, Mochi, has a gameplay system. The more you play with Mochi, the stronger he will become. He might even grow into a valuable member of your party (!?)
Like any fun and enjoyable game, Contact features a variety of events!
YOU control how things happen, whether Terry is embarking on adventure or spending a little quality time with the ladies...it's always your call.

You'll note the Professor in his top screen lab, giving instructions.
And here's Terry, in his own world.
The Professor's lab is always within viewing distance.
Terry happens across a mysterious building. Could this be the top-secret military base?
